"Opinion is the medium between knowledge and ignorance." Plato (c.428-347 BCE)

Plato advocated self knowledge for fulfillment. He also suggested that we try to improve ourselves through understanding our own weaknesses and aspiring to be more like those whom we admire.

Philosophy is not only a fascinating subject but can also provide a safe environment to tackle complex and emotive subjects in the abstract, enabling discussion and debate without conflict. This can be a vital tool for improving communication, defusing conflict and encouraging individuals to respectfully consider alternative viewpoints and the background and context which inform them.

Plato's idea of identifying areas for improvement through self-knowledge works on a personal and professional level. Using the medium of philosophical discussion to explore self-awareness is one way to tackle this challenge.

Plato and Socrates believed in the 'Socratic method' of asking questions to discover the truth gradually. Opening our minds to new ideas and possibilities by leaving the 'Cave' through discussion and logical debate gives us the tools for making decisions well.

Plato's ideas are themselves controversial, creating an ideal environment to develop self-awareness, self-improvement and empathy.

How to live your best life?

Plato has some ideas.
